Grant Criteria

Second Glance Clothes Ltd. will make grants to approved community organizations when the retail operation has earned a profit and inconsideration of any future expenses.
1. Grants may be made for projects that:
a. Enhance, strengthen and stabilize family life for the people of Leduc and Surrounding Areas’ community enrichment.
b. That are administered by an Alberta Not for Profit Organization for the benefit of the people of Leduc and Surrounding Area.
c. Support a major medical campaign supporting the people of Leduc and Surrounding area.
d. Any non-complying projects may be considered for funding the Board of Director’s approval and documentation.
2. The following projects are NOT acceptable for funding:
a. Capital projects.
b. Projects that primarily provide for recreation or leisure time pursuits.
c. To offer direct assistance to an individual or family, replacing welfare.
d. Purchasing land or building.
e. Automatic renewal of grants.
3. All Groups wishing to receive funding must complete an application form, and if required, meet with the Grants Committee. The form will request an outline of the organization’s mission, purpose for the grant, amount, needs to be addressed and expected outcome.
4. Grants exceeding $5,000.00 requested by any organization in a calendar year shall be referred to the Grants Committee to present to the Board of Directors with recommendations for approval or denial.
5. The Grants Committee shall notify each organization of the decision of the Boards of Directors.
6. Grant requests from community organizations will be accepted throughout the year.
7. Upon request, Second Glance may provide emergency relief “in kind” to families in cases of emergency (i.e. fire, storms, referrals from organizations such as Victims Services etc.) the Second Glance Gift’s in Kind Program.
a. Amounts of clothing and goods given to be at the discretion of the Manager(s) provided those “gifts in kind” follow those guidelines established by the Board of Directors.
b. The estimated value of “Gifts in Kind” must be accounted for on financial statements.
c. Gift’s in-Kind Program is designed to be a one-time gift for individuals needing emergency items. All recipients will be vetted by a recognized agency that can determine established needs. Examples are FCSS / RCMP.
d. People who approach Second Glance directly for support will be directed to the appropriate agency for assistance.
